Hi

Hope someone can help I have a canon 20D and I've just got an Interfit 150W studio flash head.

The instructions are very basic, I've put it together and it flashes when I press 'test' so I presume it's up and running there is a Sync cord and from reading the 20D manual the PC Terminal port is for this it fits and again I should be up and running but I can't make the Studio Flash head, flash when I take a picture.

Should I have the 430EX flash unit on my camera, I've tried reading that manual as well and I'm not getting from that.

Anyone have any ideas or I'm missing some cable/wire?

TIA
Cate

No you don't need the 430ex. Connect sync cord to the sync port on the 20d (where the little lightning logo is the rubber flap).

It can be a little lose, just make sure it's in there. It won't be a snug fit.

Put the camera in M mode, F/8, 1/125th, put the head to about half power and hit the shutter. Any joy?

For external flash via sync cable I believe Canon recommend a shutter speed of 1/125th, some external lights might sync upto 1/160 or 1/250. But the max sync speed is 1/250th.

I think your 1/640th was a bit much!

I generally stick to 1/125th.

It's pretty good for the money, I have the same lighting :)

Ah, yes I see 640 was probably pushing it!

I'm doing a course and need studio kit for some of the modules, this was the best I could afford but hopefully it will get me through

Thank you again for your help, really appreciate it!
