Ves, being average or normal scares the heck out of me. An opinion was asked and several responses given. Let us see some ab-normal shots?

Photography and normal aren't words that should go together. I hope that you have been inspired in some, going for the unusual is what I wanted and I am happy that you picked up on this. We can all do the normal/usual shot, being creative is what photography is all about, no? Jubilee32 wrote in post #2767181 Ves, being average or normal scares the heck out of me. What I wanted to know is which of the unusual/abnormal shots did people like. kingsown wrote in post #2767213 i like the lot have not done this with digital done a lot on film thanks fore reminding will have to find a good subject to have a go agian Happy to spark some thoughts dawnrogers wrote in post #2767227 I loved the original but as you asked about the zoom effects number 3 was my favourite... well done...a very nice set of Eye photos. Thank you. Yes, I was hoping people would pick up on the specifics of which actual zoom effect they liked and not necessarily "are the zoom effects" better than the original. Well done in picking up on this. Gear | Surrey Wedding Photographer

Thanks, it is a difficult zoom shot to take without having the Thames in the way. I can think of no other way of doing it without hitting the water. Feb 24, 2007 16:19 | #23 First vocal word I've spoken all afternoon was when I opened this thread and saw the first picture. "ah cool!" #1 for me too. I've never seen the London Eye that way. It's great.

I do think a new wider lens is in order, to avoid the cropping. Is there any way you could zoom it inwards so the effect was there but without loosing so much detail? Chris.

Whenever I do the zoom thing I get a shake in the shot even with a good tripod. Must have shaky fingers. I do like the idea of #3 and it is well done So much "stuff" - so little time

Amazing how quickly the battery wears down on longish exposures. Luckily I had two. Yeah, I'm thinking of trying out my friends 1.3 crop body. I don't want to get an EF-S lens, like the 10-22. Looking at trying out the 14mm F2.8L too. crispypie wrote in post #2768380 I do prefer the original as the zoom halos overpower a lot of interesting detail in the riverside. Is there any way you could zoom it inwards so the effect was there but without loosing so much detail? Yeah could zoom it in but I think it would have spoilt the inverted V struts which kind of act like a focal point for me. I tried a v-e-r-y slow zoom out which kind of curved the light but my rotation wasn't that constant and looked crappy. Thanks.
