Am I the only one who gave in and let myself get suckered into buying one more thing before the (double) rebate deadline Monday? I just ordered the 24-70. I'm sick, I need help.

Yeah, considering I sent mine in at the end of November and they still have me down as not sending my rebate in yet. :(

There certainly are a lot of rebate horror stories here. Although I haven't gotten a check yet, mine do show as being processed.

You will love the 24-70. It's my most used lens because it never fails me when I don't have a lot of space to put gear. And it really is amazing on the 5D. Wide and sharp.

Suzie, have you called anyone? That's been too long. If you have copies of what you sent in, I'm sure you can get it resolved.

I can't wait. I didn't realize how much I would miss having 2.8 in that range when I bought my 24-105. It's nice, but I don't think IS is a sufficient substitute for wider aperture, especially when you need to isolate the subject from the background. I love my 24-105, but if I had it to do over I would have gotten the 24-70 first at least.

I sent another copy of all the receipts, codes, etc. last Friday. Hopefully, they'll get that one! But I'm not holding my breath. It's been a nightmare. And they don't have a good phone service either. I called and their comment was, "The internet has the latest information." Well, I could have said that. I was asking them to HELP ME! Oh well. I'm hoping the second submission will work.

The 24-70 is so much more than just a great zoom. It is the best tool for events I've ever used. With the 5D, it is really sharp. I have not used it much on my EOS 3, but I will start shooting my old rolls of B&W film sometime soon.

I read on another rebate (rant) thread where somebody bypassed the rebate company altogether and called Canon directly and complained. Apparently Canon got involved and assured them they would take care of the problem.

LOL! I too just ordered one last night! I'm glad to see the vote of confidence from you and Suzy cause I had a hard time deciding between the 24-105. I really wanted the f/2.8 since Suzy advised this when I first joined the community lol! These darn rebates have cost me a small fortune of late...or should I say "saved me a bundle"!;) Yes, the latter is quite true indeed:D Now I just have to learn photography and all my new gear.

I used the 28-135 for a long time and loved it. It was a great tool because I could not afford a better lens. I had the 10D and 28-135 for all my weddings and events. I couldn't get the color or sharpness just right, and the 28-135 on the EOS 3 was pretty good. So, I was confused. After joining the forum, my photography has really improved. I was using the Rebel G with 28-80 for a long time before digital and all the pictures came out beautiful. Digital took a little more learning and I think I only now have gotten the combination of cameras and lenses and gear that will suit me for a long time. I still love film and won't give it up, but the 5D and 24-70 combination is great. You guys will really enjoy it!

I would have to agree, so has mine, and so has my understanding of all things digital, photography & SLRs. And the credit card companies have never been so happy with me. It's just been a win/win for everybody. :D

that was me, that was me...or maybe it was one of the other 1000's that have been victimized by this scam!!!

Call Canon's Support #800-828-4040

There will be an option for Rebates. Insist to speak to someone that can look into the problem right now. Also, make sure they know you've made copies!

I got an email back from the Canon Support liason to YA and assured my check was approved and enroute. I also sent them about 10 links to rebate threads across multiple forums.

Suzie - did you get any e-mail notification? i got an e-mail about 10 days ago that said my rebate was approved and i would get a check in about two weeks.

it didn't say how much the check was for tho and the information does not show when i do a rebate inquiry on the canon webpage.

i'm expecting $690  .
