at the risk of sounding too negative...don't hold your breath ed. I got the same email...followed up by the rejection card.

how long after the e-mail were you rejected?

Received the (generic) email on 2/3 that I would receive a check in 2-3 weeks. About a week ago I checked the web-rebates site and it showed the non-compliance note. Received the non-compliance card in the mail on 2/16.

Since I knew the card was coming, I called Canon mid-week to find out what's going on. Took 2 calls, but on the second call they said everything looked fine and I would be getting my check. Just yesterday I received a (personalized) email that said my check would be coming in the correct amount.

And even with all this hassle, I *just* purchased a 50 1.4 AND a 100 2.8 macro. Jeff needed someone to keep him company :o I couldn't resist...I got too good of a deal.

Yeah, considering I sent mine in at the end of November and they still have me down as not sending my rebate in yet. :(

The 24-70 is so much more than just a great zoom. It is the best tool for events I've ever used. With the 5D, it is really sharp. I have not used it much on my EOS 3, but I will start shooting my old rolls of B&W film sometime soon.

Oooh, I did NOT need to read this....I am inches away from pulling the trigger.

I know I should wait for PMA2007, but then again - if Canon really does launch a new 24-70 IS, it's going to be $1.6K at least. I have $1K in the budget. That extra $600 is not going to materialize out of thin air no matter how I dream.

So I don't think I should wait.. and now you're giving me an excuse ;)

The 'good' news however is that I was never eligible for the rebate. It's open to US residents only (which I am not). Don't even think about weasling your way out of it - B&H kindly stamps my address on every invoice. And no amount of arguing will convince the rebate center on that issue ;)

However, even without the rebates, PSJAN is still working.... and I AM eligible for that

Rebates are a great opportunity to buy lenses, so if you need something, go for it. I've never had a problem with rebates, personally, though I've read horror stories. As long as you get a certified receipt of the mailing, keep copies of everything, you should be okay if they tell you otherwise.

In early January I purchased the 28 f/1.8 and 85 f/1.8 and just last night purchased the 10-22mm wide angle with the PSJan code and double rebate it ends up being $609. The only other lens I need to purchase is the 70-200 f/4 IS and I may do so later this summer or sooner if there's a decent rebate on it.

Canon EOS 6D, 70D
Zooms: EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, EF-S 17-55 f/2.8, EF 24-105 f/4.0 L & EF 70-200 f/4 IS L
Primes: EF 50 f/1.4, EF 85 f/1.8, EF 100 f/2.8 macro, EF 135 f/2.0 L
Other: Flashpoint Zoom Li-on R2 TTL, Canon 430EX

I bit on the cheese in the mousetrap yesterday as well. I went in for a flash, bought it and walked out. As I was walking to the car I thought to myself "You know you are going to buy that lens anyway..." so back in the store I went to get my first L glass! I too picked up the 24-70 and played with it all day. It is a very nice lens! You will love it. Now on to those rebates...

I bought the 400mm f5.6 to go with my 100mm 2.8 macro. I was going to wait until spring to buy the 400mm but he rebates convinced me to get it now.

I agree. I've left a lot of money there, and downtown.
