canon 580ex????

My 580ex today started to fire off by itself. Is there something wrong with it. It only happen twice today. :(


Current: Canon 40D w/BG-E2N, Canon 30D, Canon 10-22mm, Canon 17-55mm 2.8 IS w/EW-83J, Canon 70-200mm 2.8L IS, Canon 580EX II, Crumpler 6 Million Bag, and B+W MRC on all my glass.

yes, but I didn't have my finger on the shutter bottom.

That's what I was thinking.

On a related note, I use the button as a weapon when my 580EX is attached should my little brother decide to annoy me. :lol:

Is the DOF button the buttom that turn reds when its fully charged. I didn't touch that button. I just pick up the camera with the flash attach on it and it fired by itself.

THe DOF button is on the bottom left of the lens mount. It's quite easy to tap it by mistake

My guess is with deadpass. Hitting the * button will fire the preflash.

Just on a side note. I used my 580ex today for a chinese new year program. I went through two sets of batterys. I notice the flash was warm by the end of the program. I didn't do any rapid shotting, but I did shoot a lot of picture with flash on. Is this bad for the flash?
