Thanks David. No, I've never really seen much difference with the 1.4x on. The 2.0x makes a difference though, as well as losing the AF.

Your shots of the foxes are great.

This lens is amazing !! I love it. Veryyy sharp, precise, fast focus, the IS is amazing.
The only drawback is that when you walk around in Paris, people think that you are some sort of paparazzi hehe :)

Here is one sample I took in Luxembourg Garden last week :

I keep drooling over this lens, however I have the 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS and it's really really hard to justify buying another lens with the same range. I noticed a few of you have used this lens too... will I notice a HUGE difference? And will I miss the 200-300mm? I guess I could solve this with the 1.4x though.

I do have to admit, I'm not super happy with the 70-300. It's okay, just not "wow". Love some opinions.

Take a look through your photos and see how many you took in this range. As you said, a 1.4tc would solve this problem. I've not used the 70-300 but images from this lens do have a certain "pop" to them that my other lenses don't have.

ED,

I check the picture info. Are you using 40D or 5D? And ISO is only 400 instead of 1250? Pretty impressive pictures.
