The big ones mainly ... I can see they're umbrellas now :)

Thanks for your kind compliment! :) It's such a great lens

man the sharpness of the pictures that I'm seeing is remarkable. Are these straight from the camera if so what Picture Style are you shooting in? Tripod? Handheld? IS on or off? Any Post Processing for the sharpness?

Unfortunately I don't own this lens yet (hopefully very soon) but I haven't received the clarity/sharpness that most people show on their images on anything that I've shot.

Thanks,

Jon

I've got the sharpness slider on my 40D set two notches up from standard, and after scaling the photos down in Photoshop I apply a 100% 0.3 pixel unsharp mask before uploading them to the web.

Processing aside, this is a phenominally sharp lens!! Here is a sample taken in RAW and converted to JPEG in DPP:

I shoot Standard Picture Style jpegs w/ sharpness bumped from the normal 3 to 4. That's all I do with this lens, and it produces great shots. All of my pictures have been handheld with IS on. The nicest thing about this len is the colors and just woderful contrast in all the pics.

Both pics with Canon 1.4TC II

thanks, my 5D's standard shooting mode is set to 3 for sharpness. It must be that I'm moving last minute. I'm also shooting with 24-105mm IS at the moment until I can get this lens but not yeilding great results as seen on this thread.

Welcome, atx880, and congratulations on the great lens purchase. I don't have this particular lens, but those shots look sharp (and otherwise problem-free) to me... Enjoy!

I have the USM in my gold box for $532. Is this a good price?

That's $28 less than the regular price.

Ok,
I read about some bad copy issues before buying it ,felt nervous about that.
Taken some pictures with uv filter on and liked the results but cannot get sure about it's ok?
Then ask to you.
Thanks alot.. and now i can enjoy my new lens :)

What UV filter are you using? It's a well known fact that a cheap UV filter can ruin the image quality of even the most expensive lens ...

David :)
