First time posting on POTN. But long time lurker.

I bought one of these for my recent trip to Finland and loved it. I had used the F2.8 non IS for lots of sporting events but when it came time to purchase my own, i figured the ISO handling of the 5DIII could make up for the lack of f stops. This lens performed great in the frigid cold (-25) when i could no longer feel my hands to change the ISO and was shooting at 1/40.

Thanks guys, my granddaughter makes a great subject. I just received an 85 1.8 that looks like it will be my new portrait lens although the 70-200 which made this shot on my 60D an't too shabby either. The 85 looks to be a winner on the Mark II and needs no MFA after checking it on my lens checking thingy.

The 85 will toast the 70-200 f/4 for portraits in my opinion. But I'm a sucker for shallow DOF!

Great capture! That looks like storm clouds over the North island. Something we have not seen in New Zealand for a while!

Thank you. And yes, we could all do with a drop or two of rain, for sure! I imagine a drought in the Naki is a serious thing indeed...but by all accounts it's even worse in the Waikato.

Haven't had the lens too long, but so far I'm thrilled with it, best thing since sliced bread, or possibly even better than that. From a couple of days ago in Colorado -

This looks like South Fork. Am I close?
