c&c? Okay... it's perfect. You have accomplished a low key product shot that totally works. Change nothing. I disagree with Carbo... it is totally exciting to get a perfect result. I can imagine your pleasure. And the framing adds to the impact as a very commercial graphic.

Thanks for sharing,

Ted

Great shot Justin...and well thought out too.

I wonder how it would go with a few splashes of water around the base of the bottle? (Providing the floor is water proof of course). Or shooting it with the product sitting in a VERY shallow pan of water so it reflects into the water?

Very well executed, Justin.
In addition to Paul's suggestions, a glass shelf (if you have a spare one) may provide a bit of reflection too.

i have also seen some great results from a piece of black marble tile under the subject!

I will have to try that when I do it next Paul.

Yes I have actually. Just yesterday I saw a thread where someone made there own lightbox and got some great shots from it. I want to look into that.

I might have a glass shelf, maybe the glass from a frame would work. I don't think there is any black marble tile around though

Justin small product shots such as this can be bread and butter to commercial studios. It takes a great deal of work to get good at it, but your on the right track. Keep practicing and look at the adds of products in the better magazines to see how it's done. Starting with simpler images try to duplicate it, figure out how the photographer did it. As you get better try harder compositions. So much cheaper to do this now than when I started.

For the currant image you have a good start but next time try to put a high light on the back edge of your product to separate the bottle from the black. It will help add dimension and depth to the image.

Take a look at my web site. I have been doing this for over twenty years now. I still love the challenge.

thanks for the tips mike, you have a great looking site there too.
When I get some more money for lights etc, I can come back to this thread for reference. I just shot with one cheap flash and a home made reflector  . Thanks for assuring me that I am on the right track, because I would like to do some more of this type of stuff :D
