I want more than you've given me here, Roland. It's just a tad too subtle for me at the moment. But, since I return more than once to each of your posts, perhaps I own the problem and my moment will change. At the very least, it's a compelling study in texture.

Thanks for sharing,
Ted

I recognised it from my last visit:) A great image and one that needs to be blown right up and on a gallery wall!

I could likely stare at this for considerable lengths of time were it printed large and hung on a wall near me. I generally do not care for horizontal or vertical repeating lines, but these are irregular enough to keep my interest. And the colors... The colors pull me in, around, through, again, once more. I find myself struggling to pull my attention away from the "hole" on the left side - I fall into it, clamber back out - ignore it - fall into it again. I am not sure if I like the "hole" or hate it...

Thanks to all for your thoughts! Just returned from a two days off the beaten tracks... that's the cause of the delay.

@Ted: it's one of my more playfull shots - I read a lot of comics, and this kind of photographs really ring my bell of visual memories to far away planets. It takes a few moments until you let the mind run free - and then it opens up to show worlds and universes. But I understand, it's probably difficult to let go all strive to understand the shot, and instead just have fun imagining whatever you like. I find the texture to be quite powerfull to help doing that.

@Ian: right, the size doesn't help here. Looking at it on my 23" screen really is an improvment, and seeing it printed A3+ is even better.

@Athena: the hole... I knew it would be an issue. I let it in because I thought it is in a nice balance with the two brighter red spots on the same vertical level... but I understand your "problem". I am still not yet decided about the hole and it's helpfullness here...

cheers
