Was playing around with shutterspeeds quite a bit.
I am starting to really like and strive for shots like #5 & #6 now.
Ones that tell a story although I do like the wheel loading in #4.

#1 1/160th

fun stuff! the wheel load in 4 is pretty cool. The driver has his head cocked like his really concentrating to hold it together, I like it.

My fav is shot 5 - really like what you did there and the curve of the karts leads the eye nicely through the image :). I like the slightly lower angle of shot 4 than shot 1 - seems to add impact..

Hi Fran, Nice shots, I think #1 and #5 look good to me, I think you should increase your shutter speed for the shots of the karts coming towards you, the thing is with karts in the corner they are usually moving in 2 direction forward and side ways, I think if you up the shutter speed to 1/640th + you will get better results, with the side on shots depending how good your technique is try shutter speeds between 1/250th and 1/400th. Increase the ISO if you can't achieve these shutter speeds. I guess you were using AI servo and centre AF Point?

Cheers

Nick

I find that with the side-on shots that I dont get the level of wheel and background blur I like above 1/160th or so and for the head on shots I sometimes go up to 1/640th or even just set to AV f4, that means 1 setting changed 1 step instead of clicking the shutter speed through 5 or 6 steps and then 5 or 6 steps back.
