I was going thru my CD's from back in the fall and found a coupla shots of some roses I had taken. Hubby's grandma celebrated her 90th birthday this past October and one of her kids got her 90 red roses for her birthday, this was one of them. I didn't like the crop I had in the original, so I cropped it a hair tighter, and sharpened it for the web. It was almost perfect roses...but I imagine its hard to get a hold of 90 picture perfect roses. ;)
For one of my flower shots I like it, I never seem to get good angles etc.
I played with another one of those type shots...not sure I like it well enough to post tho.
Whatcha think?

ETA: My bad, I try to remember to add how I took the photo...I forgot it this time so here it is:
20D, flash (can't remember if I had the on camera flash or external tho), I'm thinking it was direct flash cuz I had some shots before this one where I tried to achieve some different lights by bouncing the light off of different surfaces so it wouldn't be so bright on the flowers. In photoshop all I did was crop it tighter like I said and sharpened it after I SFW since the inside of the rose looked too soft the first time.

I like it, it has the look of velvet. Crop is good.

Now when you mention it, yeah it kind of looks like velvet petals don't it?

Whoa! You certainly don't have any fear of capturing the romantic moment. This needs a single violin in the background... accompanied by a French or Italian accordian. Yep... playing La Vien Rose... right? Or that song from Lady & The Tramp? And I hear the clink of glasses, maybe some fizzle? Yep... yep... all that's coming from the velvety texture that you've let me almost touch... or by the way you've lit it, imagine my finger tips running across that surface.

Great moment... just a tad late for Valentine's Day. Heck, I even like the way you've signed it.. a warm retro touch.

Thanks for sharing,

Ted

LMCAO...now that's quite the image sparked Ted. ;)
Thanks tho, its nice when someone appreciates it as much as you do yourself and sometimes you can be your own worst critic I think (like I said, I usually don't like my flower shots, never get the right angles and stuff on it that I envision when I snap the photo).

Oh I might mention that aside from the crop I did, the only things I did was sharpen it for the web since SFW made it soft the first time, so probably why it looks velvety now. The light if I remember correctly was either direct or bounced flash, I'm thinking direct tho?
