The reason for the Mac comment was there is a real sense of community on this board.

Similar to when I goto Mac forums ie- Positive energy vibe and community..." :D

I've never owned a Nikon, so I guess I can't speak for them. But I just bought my Rebel Friday and I've been filling up the Compact Flash card and draining the battery so fast it's ridiculous. I can't put it down. :D Keep in mind that I upgraded from an Olympus C4000 Zoom, so it's like a whole new world for me!

Divorce forced me to sell all my Nikon & RB 67 gear 20 years ago. I jumped back into photography in the last year with a G3, sold it, and bought a D300 and the equivelant to the national debt in "L" glass. Man, have you priced Nikon gear lately? I would venture to say the Nikon gear is a solid 25 - 30% more than the equivelant Canon gear. Simply stated, GO CANON.

Thanks all. I took my first pictures with the 300D. Amazing camera. Huge upgrade from my Elph!
300D is very snappy and you can take alot of pictures in succession. I felt like Austin Powers as a fashion photographer, "Smile Babee and keep movin!" ;)

BTW- Do all your family members say they have become your guinea pigs since you got your 300D? :D

I think you are having a massive panic attack about this pn.md

But then again it is you that has to put up with what you buy so if you're happy with the 300D then all is good.

I wouldn't consider a D70 for lens reasons * but i wouldn't write it off.It just needs a little time to prove it'self.
It does sound ***MUCH**** better than a Dribble :)

* i have a bunch of canon lenses but even if i was starting out i'd go canon.Nikon lenses are overpriced new and unavailable secondhand

PS- I'm still leaning torwards the 300D due to my previous wonderful relationship with Canon Elphs...
I just like the way Canon executes their software and linkage with computer.

Hi pn.md ... welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase!

However ... let me get that clear ... you're actually the very first person I ever heard f who said he really likes Canons ZoomBrowser software

So either it must be *a lot better* on Mac than on Windows ... or your standards are not that high, because on wndows, the software is just a p.i.t.a. ...

(just my 2 cents worth)
Andy

some cameras, some lenses,
and still a lot of things to learn...

This from a Nikon website forum:
"I am just writing to let you know that the new D70 users in Spain, Hong Kong, China, South Korea and Japan have found a problem with the colour reproduction of the D70, especially evident when taken at shutter speeds of 1/2000 or more (D70 supports up to 1/8000).

The problem is that the pictures display a very clearly uneven distribution of colours - the left of the picture is greenish, and the right of the picture is reddish.

Wow! I'm glad that isn't a Canon problem. I can't think of an easy way to process that out in the editor.

Well, let's not beat down on the unfortunate Nikon users. Let's just keep to our Canon knitting.

Hi there,

So what software do you recommend then?

I have had one nikon and my sister has shot nikon, thats why I have Canon. The 300D is easy to use, done a great job, more reasonably priced, and been durable.(my 5 and 7 yr olds use it on occassion. Its like a Honda. others may spec out better, or more bells and whistles, but the Honda just works great and does it till your sick of it.

This thread is like a success story.
Person comes in confused, asks questions, asks more questions, everybody convinces him to go Canon, he buys one, now he's happy.
Lol, another victim of peer pressure :P
I joined this forum, and after like 3 days I bought a DRebel (another victim of peer pressure).

Canon is cool.(period)
I've owned nikon before, not SLR, but "prosumer" (CP990) and was pretty happy. I lost it though... now I gotta sell my Nikon stuff on e-bay.

lol, they just ignore me. Only my grandma asks me when I walk out with my camera bag and my tripod in my hands if I'm going to shoot ducks :)) (seriously)
