Hi there, would you recommend registering as a business, my partner and i are thinking about started a photography business in our local area.

any good places that i can look at with regards to registering and whatnot.


Canon EOS 400d, 18-55mm, 90-300mm, speedlight 220ex, numerous screw on filters, and a cokin p-series filter kit.
Photoshop CS2.

Of course we are on different continents but the area that I operate in you have to register and pay a license fee if you want to operate as a business even if you are doing it part time.

I would suggest you check your local regulations. They may have some sort of exemption for part time shooters.

In my area there is no advantage to obtaining that business license other than the local municipality gets the licensing fee from me. As far as taxation goes any monies earned would still be applicable with or without the license.

If you are going to operate as a business, why wouldn't you want to get a license.


My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.
