Hello all.

I received my new A540 on friday for a ski trip. Didn't want to bring a clunky dslr on the slopes. Was having fun with it, shooting pics of my friends skiing when I wiped out and landed on the camera with the lens extended. Hahaha.
Anyhow, the lens is busted. I see a A520 on ebay that was chewed up by a dog but it appears the lens is fine. The two have the exact same specs (5.8 (W) - 23.2 (T)mm (35mm film equivalent: 35 - 140mm) f/2.6 (W) - f/5.5 (T)) so I was wondering if they are physically the exact same part so I can buy this dog-eaten camera to repair my A540.

Does anybody know for sure by any chance?
thanks!

Try contacting Canon's service centre for part numbers. Apparently they have a service that gives the part number of a discribed part.

Might help out.

Good Luck
