I like the concept of this shot too. The DOF is nice, leaves you wondering what's beyond. ;)

The candles are just a bit hot (no pun intended). I wonder what it would look like underexposed just a bit?

I like the shot too, and underexposing it would add to the dramatic mood (IMHO ;))!

thanks for all the comments, i will try to change exposure through PP and see what happens. Yes, it was a Friday night, as it always is for me :) - the only other source of light was an overhead kitchen floodlight, approximately 15 feet away and really not bleeding into this shot at all.
