I was playing around with a homemade lightbox, decided to take some pics of my beloved G5...

Great results, I love homemade/DIY stuff. I just made the pvc version myself.

Sorry ... I'm kinda new - I have one of those DIY lights so I could make a similar box - what did you do - just a light shining at the side with the side cut out?

Yes, I basically just cut the sides out of a box and taped some tracing paper over the holes, then just used 2 halogen work lights at either side.
