I'm curious to know how many of you offer proof books still or online proofing or both? I think there is something to be said about providing them the proof prints so that they can see the quality on paper. Just curious.

I offer both. With the technology allowing earlier viewing of the images online, it's nice to offer that, but to show the print quality, it's nice to give them a physical proof album as well.

It's good to have both. That's the reason why my friends and I came up with Picture Proofs. We saw a demand in the online form.

Technology allows other family members to view and order photos easily, once they go back home(since some live across the country, etc.).

It also helps towards giving the couple a chance to look at the photos anytime they want, so they don't have to re-arrange their schedules sometimes to view the photos.

I see it as a compliment to whatever you do.

We include loose printed proofs (6 x 4) as part of our standard package and also online proofs/prints. We considered proof books but I think when an albums involved its much easier for the B&G to lay out and look at what shots they would like in their album when they have loose prints to work with.

Online proofing only. I currently offer 4" x 6" prints in my packages but they are fully retouched and usable (no watermark on them) but could be used as printed proofs if requested. But I'm gradually moving away from the 4" x 6" prints altogether.

We use both, but I plan on weaning everyone off of proofbooks in the next few years...I like Tim's approach of online and a fee for physical. That may be next years package...

I offer online proofing and a proof box (instead of an album). My online proofing allows friends and family who are out of town to view the images and purchase online with the prints being delivered directly to them.

My proof boxes are leather clamshell-style boxes that hold a stack of 4 x 6 proofs. It is included in my package prices.

Proof books only if they pay for it  but rarely requested because of the extra costs and waste of TREEEEEES!

So what would you charge for a proof book...I was thinking around 200 dollars or am I way off here? with around 200-300 proofs in it?

How much will it cost you to make it look nice? Or you can charge higher package that includes it so, it's considered free(making it look like a good deal).

I guess I should add that I offer the proof book for an extra fee. Most people do buy them, though. I'm thinking about just raising my prices for the packages to include it, because the couple gets better quality prints through me than they would get elsewhere, and I organize it nicely.
