Hi All,

Wondering if anyone here any thoughts towards the Brazillian versus the 7 Million + laptop sleeve?

Hoping someone has the Brazillian and could share their thoughts with it as I'm considering purchasing either the 7 or the brazillian, and trying to justify the $150 cost differential.

I do carry my laptop to and from work and this is definitely a requirement, and living in nyc, being stealth is key as well. At most I'll carry the body + 2 lenses (17-85 / 70-200) and possibly a flash, along with my Dell D620 which is about 15" diag.

So.. anyone have either the 7 w/ sleeve and/or Brazillian wish to comment on either?

Thanks!

I am looking at getting the 7 Mil also, how does a sleeve fit into it for a laptop? Seems that if you put a sleeve in the bag the dividers wont work properly because they wont velcro to the side of the bag.

just wondering...

Hi BKW - I got my brazillian dollar bag the other day and it is really, really big. I carry an awful lot. 5D attached to 100 mm lens, a 70-200 f/4L IS (hood reversed), 17-40, 50 mm, Kenko ext. tubes, 580 ex flash, a Macro Ring Flash, blower, batteries and other bits and my notebook. Crazy heavy. Not practical, but extremely well made.
I'm thinking I'll use it more for traveling, and getting all my gear from point A to B, but for cruising around for a casual day of shooting I'll be getting something smaller.

For your gear you'll have noooo problem getting it all in, with room to grow and it won't be that heavy. But due to the rigid construction of the bag I think it will still be a pretty big looking bag to carry, regardless of the weight.
The padding, as others have said, is probably overkill and they give you more than enough extra padding to configure it anyway you want.
I got mine from B&H Photo in NYC...maybe you can check it out in person.
Hope this helps a bit.

Wonder if I could re-arrange my bag to fit the upcoming macbook and my gear (atleast 7-2 2.8 IS when I get it, and 24-70, but for now, probably 70-200 f4, 30 1.4 and 10-20, and of course, my body.)

Canon EOS 30D, Sigma 30 1.4, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 105 Macro, 135L, 430ex, Lowepro Mini Trekker AW, Manfrotto 3001pro w/486rc2 and 804rc2 head, Manfrotto 681 w/ 3232 head.

Got it on Friday morning at B&H. Construction of the bag is top notch.. a little too good in fact. The fit anfd finish is so damn good, that theres zero play in any of the pockets, namely the rear pocket. It's so tight and overly covered with industrial strength velcro that I scraped the crap out of the top of my hand and now it's a bit infected.

I was planning on using this bag for my daily work (laptop and paperwork) w/ occasional photo gear hauling, but I dont think I can with this. With my camera stuff removed, the shape of the bag remains the same... big and bulky.

On the train ride home, I mustve smacked a dozen people sitting in the aisle with the bag!

I'll be returning it to B&H tomorrow, hopefully, in favor of the Billingham or $100 NG. A great bag, just not for me.

I want to see 7MDH vs Grazillion comparison, cause I think my 7MDH is huge. Sounds like you need to be 6'6 and own the entire Canon lineup to use it :D.

I've returned the Brazillion this morning. Didnt take the subway this time as last time I almost killed a little old lady. Took a cab and the bag took the other half of the bench. Yes, it's *that* big. Didnt have any issues with B&H with my return, which I'm quite thankful for, and I'm also very happy to be rid of the bag.

After my meetings today I'll head on over to the crumpler store over in times sq and check out the 7M and some backpacks. They also make custom bags.. perhaps I can get one of their messenger bags built in with extra padding and pc/cam compartments.

Thanks for the feedback on your experience with that bag.
Please keep us upated when you find a suitable one.
I saw some good messenger bags there that you could add insets to serve as photo gear bag but not sure how suitable they are:rolleyes:
I have a 15.4" Vaio that I would like to carry with my photo equipment too (preferably when travelling only) and haven't found a decent bag yet.

Thanks again

Heh, just walked back from times sq.. the crumpler custom shop is not on 49th and 8th ave.. it's 49 8th ave. All the way downtown!! So I turned around with my tail between my legs and walked back to work. On the way I stopped at some electronics wanna be store on madison and saw that they wanted $599 for the canon 28-105 f5.6 which goes for about $150.. The usually inexpensive tamron 70-300 was going for the bargain price of $999, but if I were to buy it now, he'd throw in a UV filter + lens bag AND drop the price down to $500.. but only if I were to buy it now.

I hate scumbags like this.

Anyways, back OT. I've tried searching for more info on the domke f805, but no luck.. anyone have one?

I was going to ask you where the Crumpler store in TS was. I don't live in NY but I've been there on business a lot lately. I stumbled up on the Crumpler store you're talking about (after grabbing some pizza) awhile back. I already had the 6MDH at the time. I may go back someday just to find a general purpose messenger bag. I love the 6MDH.

It seems to be discontinued. Great bag - I don't know why they did. I used it as a briefcase every day for around 10 years, including on business trips. I'd love to find another one for strictly camera gear - it's better than the F-804 or the F7 Double AF, which are its closest mates. If you see one, grab it; if you see 2, PM me (any colour!).
