Just go for the pinhole in the body cap and be done with it (seriously: cut a hole the size of a finger in a body cap. on the INSIDE, tape in with black tape a thin feeler gauge in which you created a hole, or buy a premade one.

Wide, and 30$ for the professional model.

I like it! Got any shots?

I've only done a few, but there are many resources. Here's one.

The difference is in the FOV, not the focal length. The Zenitar 16mm has 180 degree diagonal FOV. Compare that to 74 degrees for the kit lens.

Color? It's all relative...

Wicked thanks for all the advice guys, Ive had a play with the adapter on my 18-55 kit lens and I like the effect, I cant get the 58-52mm adapter ring off the end of my lens now, which is cack. But otherwise its been a success. So Im seriously considering a proper fisheye.

Now since the adapter i got is 0.5x adpter does that mean that it makes my 18-55 lens act like a 9mm lens? Then equate that with the 1.6 crop factor gives about 13mm focal length.

Which is similar to the peleng (stop me if Im wrong). On the eos 350d (rebel xt) would the peleng give a full frame shot or would it have the black fisheye circle around it?

And is the zenitar much different? I mean would I get a similar fisheye effect with the zenitar, or would it be a lot less dramatic? It is much cheaper than the peleng, so Im trying to weigh up the options.

If anyone has any comparison shots that would be great.

Many thanks again.

The Peleng has a much more "dramatic" effect no matter what body you use it on. And the Zenitar does lose some 'fishiness' on a 1.6X crop body. If you shoot a distant landscape, for example, you might not even notice the fisheye effect. BUT it is still quite fishy for moderate close-up shots.

There are also various filters in Photoshop and other image editors that you can play around with to add or exaggerate or lessen the amount of fisheye distortion.

Thanks Jackproton,

Do you know which filters can be used in photoshop? Ive tried using the liquify filter with a huge bloat tool, but my results weren't great.

If i can figure out how to apply the effects in photoshop then I might settle on the zenitar as it is quite a lot cheaper.

Thanks again.

Sure

To add or exaggerate a fisheye effect, I believe you use Filter -> Distort > -Spherize

To defish an image, there's a PS plug-in called Hemi but I have not tried it

Good fishin' :)
