is it just me or is this camera sucking the heck out of batteries?
what battery brand do you use on your powershots?
i would have to purchase several packs just to go out on a day trip

please give me ideas

Sounds like you used the included standard batteries. I use rechargable Energizer Ni-Mh 2500 mah batteries in my point and shoot camera. They last much longer than Alkaline batteries. Cheaper in the long run too.


I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus. :rolleyes:

what is 2500mah
i see different numbers.
is 2500mah the best one?
and is energizer the best one? i saw a canon brand and sony brand too

mAh is milliAmpere Hours - a measure of how much power a battery holds; bigger is better. Aside from a general phobia about Sony, pretty much any NiMH from 2200 mAh on up will be good.

For my A630 I've been using this charger:

and purchased two extra sets of the same Duracell batteries. Looks like I really only needed 1 extra set. Their performance has been exceptional - REALLY happy with the purchase ... got them at WalMart to save $$ as well :)

After other tries I finally went to eneloop on my A620. They stay charged even if you don't use your camera for a few weeks. Although only 2000 mah - obviously they have an advantageous discharge curve and actually give much more pics than you'd expect. :D
