As the title says... how do you do the shots were someone is moved around shown in multiple places in the same room? take shots from the same spot and then overlay them in photoshop? (i only have elements, and havent figured out how to layer yet)

Thanks,

Brandon

thanks, and sorry to hear about the photos.

yea, i just got elements last week and have been too tied up with work to figure out all the (well to be honest 99.9%) of its functions...probably need to sit down and learn how to do that...

Try a long exposure outdoors, and move the person around, at each new position fire a flash or paint them with a flashlight to record them -- fun to mess around with this method (more fun than playing on a computer pasting images).
I've always wanted to buy a strobe top play with capturing a moving person, but have not tried it yet (got to find a cheap strobe)

ok, make sure you never move your camera but take the pictures
Get them on your pc, make a ROUGH selection around you charecter and the copy and then you simply paste that into place on one of the pictures, build them up and htere you go

Got PS?
Selecting areas in PS.

Using a Layer Mask to hide part of an image. Advantage is that the mask is reversible, where the effect of an eraser is not.
Need to remove a background from something?

Well here goes my step by step for PS CS2

open one of the images and then press "ctrl+a" or go to the file menu and pick select then all.

now close that image.

open up the other image and press "ctrl+v" or edit then paste.

now just to make sure you are seeing what you need to see, go to window-workspace-reset pallet locations.

now down in the bottom right hand corner you will see two small thumbs of your images those are each on a layer by themself.

just to make sure nothing is selected press ctrl+d

another just incase press the "d" key

hold down the ctrl key and click on the top picture that loads it as a selection.

Now click the square with a cirlce in it right below the thumbs that applys a mask to that layer.

that will put a white box next to your top thumb.

click on the white box (that loads it as a selection again the mask not the image)

then go to edit-fill choose either background color or choose black

next go on the left hand side of the screen and pic the paint brush then push either the "[" or the "]" keys to make the brush smaller or bigger.

now just paint with white where the second guy is supposed to be in the image and he will appear.

that's it.

oh yhea couple more things

click layer-flatten image.

then save as....

easy huh?

Before you flatten, be sure to save it with the layers in case you want to go back & change something.

There is a great easy book that has many awesome tutorials and tricks by Scott Kelby called The Photoshop Elements book for Digital Photographers. I highly recommend it, it stays on my desk all the time! While what your asking is pretty simple to do, i can't think of an easy way to explain it with out screen shots for each step and what not. I could never have done it without this book.

Hmmm, I wonder? If you set your camera on a tripod in a totally darkened room, use cable release to fire off flash shots while subject moves around the set, you might end up with a shot like the guy on the couch. It was the indents on the seats that made me think...

The quickest and easiest way is this and its what I do.

Set camera on tripod, Take your photos in different positions, And open them in photoshop. Put them in 1 image on layers, And use layer masks. Quick and easy to do.

Yup...one subject, a tripod, a background that isn't too busy, and your layer masks will be a walk in the park. Lower the opacity and use "difference" as a blending option to line up fixtures, furniture, etc from different layers.

Here's one that took about 10 minutes to do....
