A month ago, I took the plunge into DSLR photography after being intrigued by them for as long as I can remember. Yesterday, I received my first-ever lens order from B&H Photo. Today, I couldn't wait to get home from work to try it out. Tomorrow, I'll be divorced after my wife finds out how much I actually spent on this thing! Well, in keeping with tradition, these are the first pics taken with my new acquisition...

This is a pic of one of the many Mallards that hangs around the backyard.

This is a pic of his buddy, the Gallinule.

Here's a couple of White Ibis' taking in the afternoon sun.

I missed the parade of White and Canadian Geese, but then the Osprey came through for me. It flew to its usual perch to eat its freshly caught sushi dinner. Right then it hit me; I'm going to need a 2x teleconverter for this lens or a lens with a longer reach. (Oh, boy, I hope the soon-to-be-ex-wife doesn't read this!)

Finally, this last pic is one of my beautiful daughter, who turns seven this weekend. She was on her way out to ballet class, but insisted that daddy take a pic of her before she left. Am I the luckiest dad or what?

Thank you for looking and enjoy the pics!

Enjoy your new lens. I'll bet it sees a lot of use. I think of the 70-200 2.8L as an essential lens, that will outlast many bodies.
