I think the 24-70L or the 17-55 would be the two most popular

Would you rule out the 24-105 f4 L IS?

Definetly primes, the 50 F/1.4 and 85 F/1.8 are two affordable and excellent wedding lenses

For outdoor wedding, most certainly, but for indoor/low light weddings, not so much unless your using flash

What about the new 70-200 f4 IS.I was looking at samples on photobase site and the quality is stunning and looks to me almost better than the 2.8.

same deal with Jeff's 24-105 post, and they still might get on the list if more members ask for it, but i think that being f4, they might be too slow for dimly lit churches. remember, this is the " most recommended wedding lens" thread. im sure both lenses are perfect when coupled with a flash. :)

You should add the Sigma 30MM f/1.4 EX...I bought this lens to use with my 1.6 crop bodies at weddings and other indoors events as I found the Canon 50MM f/1.4 EF a tad long. the Sigma 30MM is fast, tack sharp with great color and contrast.

Jim -- I keep the Leica D-Lux 7 in the Glove Box just in case!
7D, G5X, 10-22MM EF-S, 17-55MM f/2.8 EF-S IS, 24-105MM f/4 EF L, Leica D-Lux 7
