Found the above linked from another site. Its the Flickr pages of the guy that shot the photos used as desktop backgrounds in Windows Vista. He has some really great work, some real landscape talent. He's also a good example of talent trumps kit. His only listed body was a 20D and his lens lineup still includes the 18-55.

Wonder how much MS paid him for them. Bet it was a nice commision to get.

Given that the largest monitors are not quite 3 megapixels, it's not hard to produce a good enough image from 6mp or even 8mp for a desktop.

I was more thinking about the composition, color, and such of the image rather than the mpx of the camera. If the only thing an image had to do to be good was be higher resolution than a screen I'd have a whole lot more decent images. :) Here's someone with a lot of talent and presumably a decent photography income who is getting excellent results from an older prosumer body and an EF-S lens.
