Well two of their new things are related to focusing on the pros. A pro lens and a pro body. So maybe they are just tweaking what they think they can. Definitely would have expected an IS version of the 24-70 before this though.

This can only mean one thing. If they did something crazy like this, that IS version of the 24/70 IS is coming. ;)

IQ wise we won't know until the first batch ships and reviews start to show up.

I will not be upgrading, doesn't make finacial sense in this case. I have no problems with my current 16-35L

So am I. My current 16-35L is awesome. But if the price drops within a reasonable range and initial reports are positive, I'll more than likely make the switch. It's time for bed.

16-35 is also 82mm which means another purchase for a CPL :( ohh well, but this was a surprise as others have said.

Thats a good point about the new CPL, I think I will just keep my 16-35L and be happy. This seems alot like when the released the 85L MII, not worth the upgrade

whoa whoa slow down, that was just a presumption. ;)

If they're gonna do an update on the 16-35, they're bound to do an update on the 24-70. this is all BEFORE the pma! I can't wait. It's gonna be one hell of a year for us canonnites!

That's what I said in the other thread, the 82mm bore will render my Cokins and CPL useless overnight. I'm hanging onto my 17-40.. so far so good.

usual spiel in the white paper says upgraded AF and improved speed in addition to IQ, but this one is probably just a little bit more.
