I searched and didn't see a poll yet. The thread about the Mark III is LONG, and seems some are lining up to buy while others say this is not a camera for them. So, do you plan to buy or not? I hope I covered most of the possibilities so as to make the poll a bit valid for here.

Edited to add: Yes,I plan to buy one ASAP. Iwonder if any reatilers out there wouldbe interested in a mass order? Maybe not if they sell them via a waiting list anyway. I've tried to order from three retailers with no luck so far. Since it might go for full MSRP, maybe I should try one of the "not so good" guys like Ritz. Ugh!

No, I doubt I'll buy it anytime soon. I have the 1DMKIIN and it serves my purpose quite well.

If things go as I would like them I am going to purchase one.

If our shooting hockey here in Madison keeps going the direction I would like, the MK III body will probably last me until they get around to desiging the Mk IV when that comes out in 2010!

Ross

P.S. I think you might need to add Other in your poll as none of those selections would match my choice.

Ive been waiting to get a pro body for quite some time now. My paitence has paid off and its my time to own whats hot. After seeing what the III offers, even IF i did but the N, I would have upgraded again (assuming the high iso performance is what they claim)

Im going to picking this camera up, and I assume I am willing to pay the premium. (assuming its selling at MSRP)

This far exceeded what I expected, so yes I will definitely be getting one ASAP. I know the live view doesn't seem to be a big hit among the members, but I can't wait for it. It will be especially helpful for astrophotography and for overhead shooting, but the fixed screen makes it a little limited. 10fps was just a bonus, I totally didn't expect that, and I'll bet the ISO 3200/6400 will be phenomenal.

I didn't notice it in the other thread, but is there an estimated street price for this thing yet?

Good for you Cyber! As one of our leaders here, you gotta step up to the plate and give us all inspiration. Good on you Cyber!

Damn, as much as I wanted to know the info on the camera, now it makes it so much harder to wait. We need one of the smiley face things (emotions I know the word is something like that) that shows an impatient face!

Peace.

I think street price will be MSRP for a while. Why wold they discount something with a waiting list? Just my two cents. I don't have experience with this kind of thing, so those who have gone through this previously, did BHphoto discount things like this at all? If I recall correctly, for the first few weeks they sold the XTi at MSRP and then all of a sudden the market was flooded and within that short period of time, BH dropped the price a bit.

I suspect that I'll consider one a bit down the road. It looks like a LOT of camera. Canon has not been sleeping after all. :)
