Warehouse express have the 1D3 advertised for £3049. For an extra £400 I could get the 1DS MK2 from Ebay (Digital Rev)...

Any thoughts? I think 3049 is a little high.

Pretty much two different cameras. Get whichever tool serves your needs the most effectively.

WT

Couple of DSLRs, number of lenses and other stuff... plenty short on talent.

as mention above, these are two very different cameras. one is a high MP full frame camera ideal for studio and landscape shots, the other is a lower MP ultra fast 10FPS lighter camera designed for action shots like sports and nature.

Yep, very different.

This is the problem I have with wanting to shoot all aspects of photography. I guess the only answer is to get the 3 when its released and a FF later in the year after learning the 3.

They know how to take your money!

Or maybe not even that long. Canon will have to sell at a price point that moves the camera. If people are unwilling to play that price and the inventory doesn't move, Canon will reduce the sales price.

Look for a new Ds with all the tweeks of the 3, plus a 20-22MP chip.

£3049 definately seems high. RGB up here in Middlesbrough are advertising it for about £500 less.....

Sports = 1d3, everything else essentially = 1ds2. The 1d3 is THE sports camera, but with the crop factor and all it's not THE best for studio work and landscapes. I THINK the 1ds2 would take that one. But at the same time it's still a $4000 camera!! It's gonna be good!!

I wish!!

Imagine the price that would cost! Definately out of my price range. I've been saving for some time, the 1Ds MK2 has been out for 20 months? and I can just about afford that!

Would RGB have to stick to that price if you preordered? £3049 seems to be the norm, too high for me.

a good way to think of it is moving vs non moving.

if the subject moves, teh 1d3 is teh way to go
if it holds still, the 1ds2/3 is the way to go

the 1d3 is the choice for more than sports, but also PJ, weddings, any on location work etc.
