Yes it was the Fort Worth Club with Mike snyder as the MC... It was a crazy event to say the least.. Me and my partner got to quit early and partake in the festivities!! I was blown away when I looked right next to me and saw him holding it taking photos.. He sat it right down on a tray next to me I was tempted to grab it and run!! LOL :)

I can't believe you didn't ask about it and how/why he had it.

I offered this guy $4400 per camera but he says no local pickup. I have told him I don't think he has them and have been going back and forth. Unreal. This is how to deal with someone on eBay when you know things don't add up. Look at his history and what he has for sale right now. Just too obvious. I won't say he is a fraud, for legal reasons, but I will say that it makes me wonder when you offer a guy $10,000 more than he is asking and he turns you down when you say you will pick up locally and he can meet you at a police station! eBay needs to do better!

This is obviously dodgy as the pictures are carrying Digital Rev logos. They are a large legit seller on ebay but don't have an American base (HK, UK and Aus only). If he has had to pinch their image, he clearly doesn't have the item himself.

The other giveaway is that he claims to be a big wholesaler but checking the feedback shows previous sales consist of cheap second hand goods (DVDs etc) not something a wholesaler would be selling.

I don't think you can entirely blame ebay, they can't read every auction listed and judge it's legitimacy. They generally react quickly and pull items that are reported to them, before the auction ends.

I have been in contact multiple times with seller, he has an answer for everything, lol. He just closed the auction saying he will re-list it later. I gave a heads up to eBay, I hope they look very closely at the entire seller's listing now available. I feel for anyone who bought if and when they don't get anything. I surely don't see anyone selling these for $3400. I wonder what dealer price actually is. Anyone know the markup on this camera?

Hey rip! So Hawaii is getting some of these? I'm surprised you didn't get one of the pre-production models considering you've had some magazine covers.

No, I am not using eBay! I have just enjoyed pointing out the scams I've found there so far on the Mark III and previously when I was in another market for a unique/expensive item. The high end stuff really brings out the crooks.

The Mark III should just about be perfect for your surfing pictures. With ten fps and the quicker auto-focus, you will really jump up from the 2n. the 10MP won't be much of a jump for ya, but some. I suppose the wireless with a laptop will be a winner for you too when you can sit there and show potential clients their shots right on the spot. Of course, you will gather even bigger crowds for a while, everyone wanting to see your M3.

Keep on shooting and post some more pics here, or at our other favorite spot.

See ya M

Joe

Note that cloudy/shade is a sort of best-case lighting when it comes to noise - Try the same under tungsten lighting and select the appropriate color balance and you'll see more noise (the blue channel that needs boosting in the latter case is especially prone to noise, for some reason). I'll do a comparison in the exact same conditions once I get the mk3 (I'll be using 5D as backup).

I just got off the phone at Canon USA, the number is 1-800-OK-CANON. James, the rep, checked on availability for the Mark III in the USA and said mid-June. I asked if this was firm and if he thought any USA dealers would have them in May and he said no, not the USA model, as they won't be in the stores until at least June. He did NOT sound coy or to be selecting words carefully, he sounded like he was pretty darn sure that his paperwork said mid-June for USA!

I also called BHphoto and they said their paperwork still showed sometime in May, but that they have no updates from Canon in quite a while.
