How many are caught up in the euphoria of this thread or just wishing they could have one and how many will actually get one... I think we'll have to join the Show us your box club to prove we've got one, when Canon actually get round to delivering them...

Well I am getting one. I have paid a non-refundable deposit to get it ($900).

No disrespect to Aussie guy that has one, but does anyone else think the images lack sharpness and contrast?... I do hope it's the photographer (and good luck to him) and not the camera...

If you read the top of the page he clearly states it is snapshots that have not been processed.

Yes, but my RAW images from my 5D are loads sharper, with better colour, straight from the camera than those... Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking the guy as we are all of different abilities, it's just that rumour of the AF not working properly niggling at me...

Yeah... he bought the 1D3 from a store in Australia. He was not part of the testing group - just a regular consumer. This is confirmed with hard evidence. He may have taken down the pics because the "people" at DPR were flaming him for posting non-professional, non-creative, non-artistic images. (He posted them just to show samples and stated that clearly, but they flamed him on the first few pages of DPR. The last few pages were people defending him. Why Amazon will tolerate the forum behavior, I have no idea.)

Anyway... there are reports of the camera being on shelves in Japan and other Pacific islands, but no hard evidence that I have seen (yet). There are also a few sightings of the camera in the US, but no hard evidence (yet).

Looks like we just have to be patient a little longer.

As far as I have seen. One person in Australia got it. In addition to that one or two in Australia got a call from their shop that they could pickup the camera next day.

David Thomas who is the lucky person that got it posted a new gallery with images http://www.pbase.com/dafed51/more_mk_iii_shots (external link)

with all due respect, both of these statements are still just internet rumor. I saw the gallery posted and that's the one I was referring to- he used to have pictures of him with the camera on there but not now that I can see. yes, these can be seen as "hard evidence", but we saw a while back how extremely simple it is to change the EXIF on the files to claim it's a Mark III. I still don't believe this guy got a hold of one in the wild this early if Canon is still mentioning June in their release date time frame.

I think you think about someone else. There was a guy that got a shot of himself taken in a shop but that was not this guy. I think this is the one you refer to

Obviously it is your choice not to believe but I see no reason not to believe he (David Thomas) got the camera.

In the original set of pictures, he included one of his face with the 1D3 as well as a shot of the camera sitting on top of the new box. Although the first shot could have been photoshopped to make the camera say 1D3 (1D MarkIII), the second shot of the product box would have been extremely difficult to PS considering the angle of the shot, the angle of the box, and the lighting conditions in the shot.

I'd bet even money that he has got one... The rest of just need to be patient a little bit longer. I am still hoping there won't be significant availability shortages for those of us on this first go-around.

He really doesn't understand the illness, does he?

I have to admit, I have the Mark III flu and the cure is going to be very expensive. :p

ahh, I just saw the picture of him holding the camera (not the guy in the dpr link you gave tommykjensen) as well as several pictures he had taken randomly. I never saw the pictures of the camera sitting on the box. that would change my opinion had I seen them myself

Here are some more shots from the Aussie.

http://www.pbase.com/dafed51/for_dp (external link)

I posted a comment on his PBase account to post some images of the box and accessories. It looks like he removed many of the images from the original set. From the way the DPR slags reemed him, I can't say as I blame him.

in all due respect to my fellow posters.. I'm quite sure that the Mark III will take as sharp of photos as the 5D so quite judging the Kangaroo guys photos.. Plus, we all know the noise at higher ISO's is huge and the 5D wont touch it....

Too much Gear to list!
