My 1D MkIII has just arrived!!!

Just charging up the batteries so a couple of hours and I will be ready.

Now it's just a question of reading the manual :-)

Only problem is it's hammering it down outside :-(

It doesn't make up for the 'Pool' losing but congratulations... Looking good for UK deliveries then...

I can imagine why you are so reluctant to admit it but .... it´s a fact, you can not believe it, I can understand it, it´s hard ... :)
I am sorry, Joe ... I hope you get yours soon.

Hi Juan, that for the patronizing. :) I don't believe they are fact, and I don't believe they are a lie either. I just find it possible that one of more of those folks might be pulling our legs. When Canon says they won't ship to the US until June1st and are adamant about it, and no one here has one in hand, I just get a little skeptical. Someone over in dpreview over a weeks ago was busted for posting M3 pics where he had changed the exif info to make it look like a Mark III. Two others on other Forums finally admitted they Photo-shopped boxes to make it look like an M3. They were just joking and pulling some legs. Since I don't know of these people who said they got theirs in Missouri, Wisconsin, and other places, I just don't take it 100% although it certainly looks like a couple of them probably did get them, and I am, YES, happy for them, especially since they ordered at their local stores a long time ago. I just disagree that due to these posts, that it is now a FACT! Too many facts lately weren't facts, and several of these fact sellers were busted by eBay. If anyone here had said they knew one of these fellow and knew he was an honest guy, non-joker, that would have pushed me into the fact area.

I will get mine, either sooner or later. I am resigned that I must realize it is not the end of the world and I have just additional pressure on myself because I travel so little nowadays due to my spinal problems, I wanted so badly to have this when I go see my daughter graduate in San Diego. I figured it just might be my last trip out of town as traveling is getting to just be too hard on my back so I wanted to make the absolute best of it and get some shots of her graduation that would be the best shots I possibly could get. She is a great kid, worked hard for so many years for this day, and I am proud as a peacock and want a few images I make large prints to frame. The 30Dwill probably be fine, but I wanted it to be perfect, well, as perfect as my talent would let me go.

If it takes two months to get it, that's ok. I realized this evening when I went to bed two hours ago that I am hanging on too tight for this thing and will now on be more pragmatic about the whole thing. Yeah, as usual, I went to be, slept two hours, woke up with back pain,. will stay up for an hour to get the pain killers and muscle relaxes to kick in, and then if I am lucky, I will sleep for two more hours. A real bummer. If I could have anything in life for myself, it would be a new back, not a camera. I paid over $30K total last yer to go to Germany to have two artificial discs installed in Bremen. Everything went ok, but out of us three Americans that were there that week, the other two are totally cured, and I am bedridden all the time.

Enough sniffles, I don't communicate well when I don't' get sleep and the medications do the typing for me, so I hope this made sense. I agree with you Juan in most of what you say, these folks most likely have the camera and we should all be happy for them and everyone else lucky to get one, even if we are not one of the few lucky ones our self. Have a great weekend Jaun, ok?

Joe

I understand better now. I wish you the best but is the photographer who makes the photography and I pretty sure you are going to take the best photos of your doughter´s graduation with 1D3 or without it :D The most important for her (and you) is to be there and live the moment !!

Cheers
Juan

I was wondering if anyone who ordered their MarkIII from a brick & mortar Wolf/Ritz camera store has gotten their camera yet? These are not orders over the internet but actual walk-in orders. If you did get your camera what number were you on their pre-order list?
I have been calling them and getting no information at all. The only thing they are telling me is that they have a total of 90 ordered as of yesterday but the cameras are not even in the warehouse. They have no idea when they are coming in.
Thanks

Joe,
I can sympathize with you. I want the camera as soon as possible because I have a brain tumor and the docs don't know what's going to happen since it's so rare and they have never treated one before. I keep putting my trip to the hospital off hoping that the MKIII will come in and I can enjoy it for a few weeks.
If circumstances were different I could care less when the camera comes in. Sometimes the anticipation is better than getting the product. I would just like to have some fun before all the testing starts.
Good luck with your medical problems and hopefully we will both get our cameras soon.

Tony

Sorry you didn't get one yet. They ARE out in the US just in silly small quantity. I didn't have a pre order and just got lucky calling a store and getting one.

Congrats Chris!

You will be amazed. Did some press shooting yesterday with the Mark III and i have _never_ had a camera that meters and exposes that well. 63 zone metering is awsome. At yesterdays event there was another photographer with the Mark III. Not a lot out of around 50. Firing off 10 fps bursts definately made some heads turn. Good fun :)

Have fun and and enjoy your Mark III.

Does anyone have an idea of just how many Mark III's the initial US shipment included? I suspect we are talking about less than 1000 units. Most European contries had less than 50 delivered each.

It's really no surpise that the Mark III currently is almost unavailable.
