Congrats Chris!

You will be amazed. Did some press shooting yesterday with the Mark III and i have _never_ had a camera that meters and exposes that well. 63 zone metering is awsome. At yesterdays event there was another photographer with the Mark III. Not a lot out of around 50. Firing off 10 fps bursts definately made some heads turn. Good fun :)

Were you at the press conference Bjarne Riis held?

Joe,
Certainly understand your frustration. Canon is not making friends with this release. But I do have one.. couldn't believe it when the local shop called and said mine would be in on Friday. And it was! They only got one (was all they ordered), and I was the only one who ordered one. They were $100 more than BH, but I'll pay that. Anyway, hope you get one soon. And I am not a frequent poster.. just a lurker, but do have the Mark III.

The camera store just called me and mine is in. I'm headed out for a wedding today, but my wife is going to pick the camera up for me. They got two of them, so if anyone wants the other one, PM me within the next hour or so and I'll PM their phone number to you. Location is Western PA.

MoreHTML... OreoKid....

Not to call you out, or anything... but show us the boxes.

A lot of us old-timers have been following this pretty closely and are reluctant to accept much of anything on faith. If you got a 1D3, that's awesome. If you show some images of the boxes, the manual, the software disks, etc. it might be easier to believe you.

I've got almost 2000 posts here. If you don't believe me so be it. If I waste time posting a bunch of box shots you'll say they were photoshopped.

This may be YELLING FIRE IN A CROWDED MOVIE HOUSE, but here goes:

My Mk3 has shipped and will be delivered to my eager hands on Tuesday. That's my good news. The possible good news for others is that I had two orders out, hoping that I'd get lucky with one of them. Both of my vendors are backdoor sources in a way - computer vendors, who are Canon authorized. Obviously one has/had stock yesterday, since my order shipped. I spoke with the second vendor just yesterday, and he anticipated stock in next week. He had 7 back orders for 10 units coming in.

Both vendor web sites are showing no stock, so you'll have to call my guys direct:
Mark Sanchez @ PC Connection 800-800-0014
Lyndon Plarisan @ Mac Mall 888-863-3282 ext. 7957

Both of these guys will be out for the holiday until Tuesday. I think Lyndon is in at 6AM PST.

Best of luck to all!

Jeff

For the record, I'm not saying I don't believe you... and I did notice you have been around awhile. On this forum, I doubt anyone here would accuse you of "faking" box shots. On other forums, such as DPR, it would be suspicious, but not here.

The key with the fakers on the other forums was that they didnt include shots of the other packing materials, particularly the new software.

Anyway, many of us here ARE curious about the packed items, so I hope you don't think it would be wasting time to share some shots with your fellow POTNers... but believe me, all of us here know the strains of working as a photographer. It can be a time consuming thing, no doubt.

Well.. I would if I could, but I'm in Missouri and my camera was picked up by a friend yesterday and even I won't get to see it until Monday when I return to PA. If you are really that skeptical, then this post doesn't help. I just lucked out. And photos by Monday may not mean anything to you, but will post Monday.. and show sales slip with Friday's date on it..
Hope the rest of you get yours soon.

Nah, that's ok Oreo. At least you will have a happy return back to PA.

Please don't misunderstand me on questioning you guys. The skepticism is not directed at you personally, I am simply cynical and have no problem saying what I know other people are thinking.

(Plus, I am probably a little jealous! I've been waiting for this camera for a very, very... veryvery long time.)

B&H is a great place with great folks. This is not bringing out the best in anyone. But if they decide to sell them on say the 29th, then we kick our own rears for waiting until June. I wish they would have accepted pre-orders and told us where we were on that list. It might have saved them a lot of time and effort, and us a lot of worry.

That has been my feeling all along. They probably have had problems in the pst doing that. Breath deeply. . . .oommhhhhh.

If you post shots of cameras and boxes you get accused of being an anorak and told to post some images. Personally I like seeing people's 'unpacking the goodies' threads
