I suspect that many people have been putting their names on more than one waiting list---perhaps several. Yes and thats why I think it would be a good idea if more dealers would take a non-refundable deposit of at least $500. That would ensure sane people would only pre-order at one dealer giving them and Canon a much better idea of the demand (of course assuming the dealers tell Canon about expected sale). This is with both in camera NR settings and highlight priority mode off. If you turn thosee on buffer really drops. here is the breakdown for raw: ---------------

Perhaps there is a huge shipment about due to land. Don LaVange

Of course, I know not all 5D owners will care but, I can imagine some of them not being too happy with the the fact that the Mark III is leaps and bounds better in the noise department. I can imagine there are a few 5D owners whom are avoiding this thread entirely. (Please don't take this the wrong way, I love the 5D but, waited for the Mark III cause full frame does nothing for me) I will purchase a 5D as a backup when they stop being so pround of the full frame sensor...

The 10% discount on the local Jessops opening-weekend will take a little of the sting out of waiting for me... I'd still hope to get a first-drop camera within a week though.

Everyone with any EOS camera should accept the fact that the next camera is always better. I have no complaints about that Here is a question for you boys who have played with the Mark III already? How will this ISO shift (or, whatever it's called) help me as a photographer of Live theater with constant changing light power? Please ellaborate!! Simply, it helps you get the right exposure. If you are e.g. in Tv mode 1/100 with 70-200 f/4 and start with ISO 800, you'd be getting underexposures when lights go lower @ f4. With ISO safety shift the camera starts to raise ISO @ f4 in order to keep the exposure good. Much better than lowering shutter speed (which can also be "safety shifted" in Tv). morehtml Goldmember 2,987 posts Likes: 1 Joined Aug 2005 Location: Murfreesboro, TN More info | Just playing with the af microadjustment now. It is pretty easy to set. I just put rig on tripod, hook up camera to computer via usb. Start EOS utility, start remote shooting. I set up a slanted wooden ruler to shoot. Locked tripod with center af point on number to be in focus and auto focus. Then in EOS utility switch to 'live view shooting' and I can magnify image huge. Set af adjustment if needed from -20 to +20. Then repeat till happy. Takes about 2-5 min per lens. REALLY cool! ---------------

I am done with my 500mm and 600mm which have very thin dof. the 500mm + 1.4 TC seemed to BF a bit so I adjusted it 2 or 3 'forward' I adjusted the 1.4 + 600 1 forward. The bare lenses seem fine. I'm doing other lenses as we speak just to check them. The live view on the comp lets you be real precise. ---------------
