Well think of it this way, it keeps the best camera manufacturer in the world in business.

Charging a smallish battery.

I didn't have time to look at it closely. What are those two things that came with it? One looks like some sort of adapter, and the little plastic thing?.....I haven't a clue.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

You have a mains adapter for studio use etc

A small threaded screw and a plastic clip. They are to support the USB cable....

So you got it then...... and what smallish battery :) ;)

Congrats. Now finish paying your bills. You can play with it when the battery is fully charged

Yep, I was surprised, there is a power adapter so you can get going right away if you have a long enough extension cord. :)

Actually the battery being lithium ion comes at least partially charged and it's really not mandatory to maintain a strict full-charge full-discharge cycle like with the old Ni-Cads.

I'm at work now, so will have to wait a while to really begin figuring this beauty out.

I think all 1-series bodies have had that. At least the MKIIN had. I never used it though.

But I like the fact that the charger has a connector for a car cable so it can be charged in a car.

Thanks. I had no idea what they were, and I haven't had time to look at the manual.

Compared to the batteries in my 1D Mk II and 1Ds Mk II, this battery is downrighty puny.;)

Wow! That's really great. Every time I go to Africa I'm always lugging along an inverter to plug in P-2000s and the assorted pile of electronics. This connector will free up the other plugs on the inverter.

Canon really tried to think of everything this time. They seem to have succeeded. :D
