I think all 1-series bodies have had that. At least the MKIIN had. I never used it though.

But I like the fact that the charger has a connector for a car cable so it can be charged in a car.

Yep, I'm almost definitely going to make use of that.

ME TOO! I think on going to give up on B&H and pre-order somewhere. I've tried calling everywhere to see if someone had one in stock somewhere.

Shall we pay for it too or just find it for you?

Just find me one and I'll buy it and fly it overnight.

Wow! That's really great. Every time I go to Africa I'm always lugging along an inverter to plug in P-2000s and the assorted pile of electronics. This connector will free up the other plugs on the inverter.

Yep. I don't own a car but have ordered the car cable to bring on my Namibia trip.

palava = clusterf***, mess, shambles, etc etc ;)

Did you perhaps mean "palaver"?

LOL, or maybe some Dutch tulips?

I don't know if I dare say this as it may be akin to shouting "FIRE" in a crowded theatre.........but..........B&H is now taking orders........and...........AeroSmith has an order number. :D They, however, will not admit to currently having them in stock. But I got a good feeling from tha call.

Thanks Joe, I was the first caller; still waiting for the call from the store.

Has anyone noticed that the hot shoe on the Mark 3 is chrome and not matte black like the Mark 2 and every other canon DSLR that I've owned?

B&H took my order to, but stated they were not in stock yet. The alluded to that they knew they would be coming in soon. I made sure I put in for the out of stock extra battery too. I also put an order in last night for 4 peices of L glass and a lot of other stuff. See what this buying frustration can do to you.

Yep. Another feature Canon deliberately redesigned. Users have been complaining for years about the paint that gets scrubbed off after flash usage. So they made it chrome. Another nice little Mark III feature.

The word is that there were 250 Mk3s shipped out from Canon UK: to Reuters went 200 and to dealers (yes, you've guessed) just 50. No surprise then that there was a slight shortfall on dealers shelves for ordinary folks to buy.
Oh yes, there does seem to be a difference in pricing reported - I know of one Mk3 being purchased for £2.5K and one for £2.8K, most dealers quoting £3K; plus a report that one dealer was asking £3.4K............... market forces and supply and demand at work.
