If brightness changes quickly it will adjust the shutter or aperture. I would assume ISO Safety would change the ISO for you. Join us in Chicago on April 22nd (Click here for more details)

S2000 wrote in post #3864447 40D also has it However, when this thread started back in Feb., the 40D was still a rumor. Jon

G__Man Hatchling 1 post Joined Oct 2007 More info | I too was curious about this feature but I gather it comes in real handy when you are shooting quickly. In short if you get into a situation where the lighting is too low for your settings rather than under expose the photo it bumps up your ISO. Of course you can do that too if you remember and have time but one thing it will do that you likely can't is bump it just enough to yield the right exposure - e.g. ISO 375. I gather it also works in conjunction with other features. So with Shutter preferred, if you set speed to 1/500, it respects that setting and plays with the ISO (only if needed) to get the right exposure once it has reached the limits of the aperture.

Oct 14, 2007 07:32 | #14 The Mark 2N and the 30D has the safety shift too. You have to turn it off for any kind of creativity or if you don't mind a little under exposure, for example, in order to get the shot.
