Ok so now that we have the 1D MKIII released by Canon how long do you think it will be this time before they release an upgrade or have they got it spot on first time?

What do you think if anything is missing from the MKIII or did you expect to be a feature that is not present in the new model.

I would have liked FF, but that's about it...
Don't know if the new UI is an improvement, but I guess there's really no telling till I've held one ;)

N would be years off. I mean lets be honest, ISO and LCD improvements were all the N are.

3" LCD will be dominating the consumer market for a long time. Canon have just gone ISO6400 where other companies are struggling with 3200 and those that can are rubbish at 1600.

There would have to be a major fault for this to become a N

The 1Ds Mark II never went N in its 3 years but maybe this was due to the sheer cost of the II anyway.

Making live peview auto focus could be something to be engineered.

Yeah the N should have total brew making capabilities. Also it should be able to iron. Nothing is worse than looking down at the screen and noticing a wrinkle.:p

But seriously it will be a while before the 3n makes itself known. But just imagine what it might be.

Wow...I'm suprised someone started this type of thread already...the III isn't even on shelves yet!

I agree with it needing brewing capabilities. Come on Canon! Get it together!

I really really really hope they introduce a firmware update to allow an M-Raw setting.. the S-Raw is a little small for my liking.. and I think they could easily add an M-Raw via firmware.

I think an N version has a lot to offer - it'd include all the mkIII improvements and add full frame, huge resolution (22mp is the figure usually bounced around here), stupidly huge buffer...

Plus the N version is due an upgrade in the menu department, plus having all the new custom functions the mk3 has added to it...

The mkiii isnt high enough resolution for a lot of applications the N is used for, so there's still a need for a mk3 N...

Maybe a faster FPS. Something like 35 - 40 FPS would be nice....

realistically the 1D MKIII or N has no need to be FF, its a pro sports /journalist body, where togs like the x1.3 crop. Thats where the 1Ds comes in being FF body which is desired by primarily studio togs.
Not much more to do to the camera, but with new technology emerging daily, something new will be on the drawing board i suspect. Not too soon I hope

Of course.

All DOF button does is engage the aperture on the lens to close to the set F number.
