I really like this one. The lighting primarily from one side, the background, everything.

HI everyone, I am new to this forum and i am new to taking product shots...

I am trying to get the basics to taking product shots for my ecommerce website. As you could see, we don't have the best shots www.telegaleria.com (external link)

does anyone have ideas to make them much stronger after taking a look at the site????

I have a light box and a camera. I just want to know if someone has the key points to help me learn how to take quality product shots...

thanks!!

To me it looks like a lot of your shots are underexposed. You may want to start a new thread and post up photos with EXIF data intact to get some good feedback.

Thanks for your quick response. Do you have some high level advice for presenting product shots on an ecommerce website?

Not at all. I know almost nothing about product shots. I like the look of your photos, but I think the lighting could use a little bit of help. Like I said, the shots look a bit underexposed as well. The shots on the website aren't really lightbox shots for the most part and you may do better by putting up a new post in the lighting section to get some advice from people that know a lot more about lighting than I ever will.

Well I finally gave these a go this week with my 50/1.8. I think I need to change the sides of my box to parchment or tissue paper (instead of thicker printer paper) and fire a flash at the ceiling of the box as I'm not blowing out the white inside as much as I'd like to and it's taking me to much PP to get the background (almost) perfectly/evenly white even while using custom white balance.

C+C is great please:

My first attempt at a black background!
I'd like the background pure black, so I'll keep working on it.

What about a solid black sheet doubled up? Wonder if that would produce a "blacker" black than the paper??

Just what i was thinking cause that board has a reflective propery, you need a cloth that will absorb the light, keeping is true black

I think you need more intense light to blow out the background a bit more and use a custom white balance.
