If you are using the same lights as many (500 watt utility lights) set your WB to Tungsten which should produce a whiter looking background. If you are familuar with doing a Custom WB you can do that also. But my first thought was, "why is this so dark? What are you using to cover the side panels? If you post your camera settings this would help others in determining what the issue.

Biggest problem is that is is underexposed. Also looks like you have a narrow DOF, making much of it oof.

Put the camera in M and set your aperture around f/14 and adjust your shutter speed as need. Ignore your in-camera meter. It will be unable to meter this properly with a bright white background. Take shots until you get the background blown out and take a few more with a bit slower shutter speed. Then take a look at them on the PC and see what looks best.

It really doesn't matter how much light you have to get the background to blow out, you just need a longer shutter speed.

A tripod is pretty much essential for this.

if you're using a speedlite, try turning it on manual and set it to 1/4 or 1/8 (if you have a sto-fen), if not, turn it to 1/8 or 1/16. the auto setting made my pics come out like that too. i was shooting my stuff at ISO 100, 1/160-1/200 @ F/7, with AWB. see my previous setup 2 pages back. you may have to do a curve shift in photoshop after.

let us know how it turns out!

(also, tripod not optional!)

Much better, but you still should get that aperture down to f/11-f/14. This still has a pretty narrow DOF.

The exposure looks much better though. Maybe to to bump it up a bit more, but that is pretty close.

Nice, now try with a shutter speed around 1/5 - 1/4.

Made a box the other day... good times!

I am having trouble getting my backgrounds totallywhite... withough overexposing the subject.

Any suggestions?

I'd love any tips from the pros on how to take the pic without getting the reflection of hte camera in the ring on the right. I guess I could PS it out, but I'm not very good with PS.

Thanks!
