Made a box the other day... good times!

I am having trouble getting my backgrounds totallywhite... withough overexposing the subject.

Any suggestions?

I'd love any tips from the pros on how to take the pic without getting the reflection of hte camera in the ring on the right. I guess I could PS it out, but I'm not very good with PS.

Thanks!

Okay so last time I posted something totally different then what everyone else is doing.
This time I figured I would do more of what you all are doing, Product Photography type photos.
So here are my first attempts at product photography.

thanks! you'd be amazed at what you can learn from PS tutorials. i work in photoshop all day for work, so i pick up whatever tricks i can where i can. all i did for that one was a quick white balance, USM tweak, brought up the contrast a little (although that hurt the pic a little, IMO). sectioned off the stones, layer via copy, hue/saturation for the stones, and made the reflection (tons of tutorials for that out there).

any reason you grayscaled this pic?
i wanted to see what it looked like in its true form.

Looks like you're mixing light sources on this one, notice the blue tint in the shadows.

Did the grey scale as they are white gold rings... but looked a bit tarnished (and off colour) in the lighting. the diamonds didn't have that nice blue out of the camera... so I decided to kill all the colour :D

Yeah, I've noticed that in some of my other shots as well. What causes that blue light? I've got two 250/500w work lamps on each side plus an on-camera flash.

Just use the worklights. The flash and the diffused work lights have different color temperatures, which makes it impossible to get a correct white balance, giving you the blue tint.

Wait, you don't use the flash? I figured you had to since the OP had his flash on his camera.

I believe they discussed this somewhere in the thread when someone else was having the problems. In the first post, the OP had a fairly fast shutter speed and the ambient wasn't effecting the shots as much as the flash was. With your slower shutter speeds, more ambient light is creeping in and overpowering the flash a bit. You may want to shut off the other lights in the room also.

OK I have one question. I have set up my light box and put glass on background, but there is visible edge of glass. How to eliminate that thing.

You need to clone it out in PS.
