After reading this thread last nite. I had no choice but to try. I've been thinking about buying a table top tent for a while. This is great. Now I just need some practice time and I'll be all set. :D

Here's a pic of my setup. Not too shabby for 30 bucks

After some PP
Changed WB to Tungsten and I increased the saturation a bit.

You'll have even better and truer color if you set a custom white balance instead of the built in presets. Nice lightbox and results though.

Here's my 2nd attempt. I took a pic of the box empty and used that as a custom WB. The lights are 250 watts ea. Should I have not skimped and have brought the 500 watters? Gotta run to work.

Hi cire,

No I don't think it has anything to do with the amount of light. I see two things. One is the the background is not evenly lit and it transitions from white on the left side to gray on the right. Overall the image looks to be underexposed. Have you tried a gray card? That will give you a good custom white balance.

Over expose that last image by about 1 stop in PS and it should look a lot better.
They sure don't make toys like they used to.

Cire,

I used to change the white balance to Tungsten also... I think I got better results by creating a custom white balance in the camera before shooting. Also, I've learned that "white subjects" in the "white box" are a lot harder to PP. Overall, great job.

:D

A few more from tonight. I copied Todd's lens set-up for a few of them.

Ok, got my box set up. But my white balance is still off.

Here is the first pic. I shot a complete white background and set that as my "Custom WB" and this is what I got:

Here are two more with WB at the "Auto" setting. How do I fix the custom white balance?

It looks like you are setting it to Custom White Balance but did not take a test shot to use for the CWB setting. If it has no reference it will be off.

I took a picture of the white background without anything else and used that complete white picture as the reference when I set the CWB in the menu. Isn't that how you're supposed to do it?
