David, I'm no pro, but here's what I see right off the bat. Your first and third photo seem to have white balance issues. The third one isn't bad, but the first one is very noticable, but easily fixed. I think the camera is compensating for the flash more than your extra light, which is causing the overal red/orange tinge to the photo. To fix this you can do a custom white balance. Take a picture of your background, the white paper, and make sure it's exactly how you would shoot if there were a subject there. That way the camera can meter and adjust for all the blended lights inside the box. Take that picture and set it as the custom white balance, should be an option in the white balance settings area. This should cure the problem in shots 1 and 3. Your second shot looks pretty good to me. If I am wrong, will someone please correct me as I don't do the whole light box thing very often.
