the red is probably reflecting off the back of the deodorant, try using gobo's to stop as much light hitting the back of the deodorant as possible - AND/OR cover the back of the deodorant with black electrical tape or something AND/OR move the deodorant further away from the background. - If that is where the red is coming from lol

This is a good example of when you need some black paper to reflect in the sublect. The light will be fine still. But the black paper will keep the black parts of the car black.

One last noob question before I begin my box. I just want to make sure that external flashes are not needed. If so, I have everything I need to begin.

no flashes need
just the worklights or some type of lights.
adjust WB and ur Exposure.

Now, some people did use their external instead of the other lights and bounced off the top of their box.

the polar bear looks good north.
you need to blend the glass to background because u can see where the glass ends.

Thanks for the feeback Gizmo. I had a feeling my monitor was a bit dark, looks good on here and can't see where the glass ends unless I brighten it up. I'll get it figured out though. Thanks again!

OK...I went and did it.

Supply list:
3 20x30 foam board sheets (target)
Duct tape
Scotch tape
8.5x11 Printer paper
12x12 Scrapbook paper
2 cheap desk lamps with (50w equivalent) fluorescent floodlights
1 halogen desk lamp
Framing square and utility knife for tools
3 beers (optional)

It's 20" tall x 14" wide x 12" deep

I tend to overbuild things. Wood is my usual medium (I built the bar that this is sitting on and it's practically bomb proof), but that seemed way too much for this, so I kept it simple but exact.

Sample pics. These were all taken with the kit lens, no flash, remote release, ISO 100, Av mode, a little sharpening was the only PP

You are underexposing. You are shooting what the meter is telling you to shoot? In fact you want to be overexposed to what the meter is telling you. Remember the meter wants everything to be gray. So you have to adjust. With this much white in the frame you have to compensate and open up the apature a stop or 2 and see what it does for you.

Also move your lights back. You want as much of the opening to be lit as possable. Not just a lil corner of it. You will end up with a long exposure. But if your camera is on a tripod it will not matter.
