Finally got a decent sized piece of paper, forgot to do the custom white balance thing, so going to give that a try tonight and see how it comes out. C&C welcome :).

Hi mdruziak! i have the exact lightbox setup i use some gooseneck lamps though. but i was just in home depot and was looking at those exact clamp lamps. what kind of bulbs do you use?

These are the Home Depot 23W (I think) Daylight CFL Bulbs.

OT: you remember when these where gonna be the next big thing then came mp3 players and the ipod and crushed them (400.00 later thanks sony)

Great shot I like your set up. so your set up cost what around $20.00 thats fantastic. Keep them coming

Actually I use this quite a bit to record the kids concerts. It does a nice job.

The PVC was about $6, the sheet about $2.50, Lamps $10, Bulbs $8

Just to back up what Pepperoni was saying...it's all in the post processing. Here is the image right out of my XTi, only cropped and resized.

You know I followed what others did and set my custom white balance after taking an all white picture inside the box, but it just didn't look right after I was applying it to the pictures, so I was using either Tungsten or Auto WB and then adjusting accordingly in photoshop :)

Played around some more tonight. Getting the hang of positioning the lights. Here's a sample:

For the record: not using flash...And I've actually been overexposing about a stop, at least in my best photos. I've been setting the WB in-camera by taking a shot of the box with the lights on...

For the rest of the pics:

Looking at the pics...I really need to clean my sensor! :)

Some very good things coming out of this thread. Its a real inspiration.

I especially like the 10D and various lenses on the red background.

My box is falling apart already, so I'm definitely going to make a more permanent one with ply-wood or something similar. April 13 (my last day of classes) can't come soon enough.

Cerbera: Nice exposure. A simple tweek in PhotoShop will blend the edge of the glass pane into the background.

Looks good, but I think it could be sharper... try applying a little Filter>Sharpen>Unsharp Mask.

Good Job ! :)
