I made a light box out of PVC pipe. It's fairly small (unless you count the stand used to hold the lamps around it), but gets the job done. This is the first picture I've taken in it, using 3 lights, two cool fluorescent (one on top, one on at 4 o'clock) and one warm fluorescent (at 8 o'clock). Let me know what you think: Mario in Lightbox (external link)

Thanks.

p.s. - I'll take a picture of the lightbox setup too, if anyone is interested.

Hi guys,

I'm from Turkey, also new here and I need to take some "wedding favor" photos for my wife's website ..I really really need your help...

I made this lightbox yesterday night and today I'll buy the papers to cover the sides..Sorry for the horrible photo:D

My first question ; Is this a big lightbox ? I mean for the lightning..I'll use 2 hologen lights ( 250 W ) on the sides...

Is it essential to use one more light on the top?

I'm sending an example pic of the product ( not my shoot ) That's what I really need.( I mean the light, the distance etc )

I know the WB is not so good but that's ok..Is my homemade lightbox and the 2x250W lights enough to take this quality picture? Any suggestions?

Can you post the link to the ebay 30" tent and how much?
And which camera strap is that you have? Link to it too, if possible.
Thanks.

just thought I would pass this along. I ran by Michael's today and found they have 20x30 sheets of Elmer's Foamcore for 2/$3.00...I was gonna also get some black but for that price and a $0.96 can of flat black spray paint from Wally World and I have black boards also. I bought 10-sheets figuring it was 50% cheaper than Wally World and actually the sheets at Michael's seemed whiter than those at our Walmart.

Unfortunately the flu/cold is visiting tonight so I probably won't even start to work on it tonight. dang it anyway! :)

Oh, I also stopped by Ross and found the cheapest picture frames one 11x17" and a two pack of 8x10"(??) for a total $7.00 for all of them...I bought them just for the glass.

i started to read the first post, then clicked like the 2nd, 101st, 202nd, 206th and then 209th page, but didn't realize why is everyone sticking their things into a small box?
you get a static light from 3 sides which doesn't look so good...

you should use 1+n lights and then different reflectors to get the light to reflect onto whatever side/corner you want...

perhaps because as with all things, different tools for different ideas...seems folks are getting the results they want.

But like you I see all even lighting as often resulting in shots that lack dimension. So, judicious use of black gobo's, removing one side, different color sweeps, glass tiles...pretty much you name it to get creative and find the shot that makes a person happy...it's a long thread and the folks here kinda sorta seem to know what they are doing, and if not (like me) we can ask questions and share results of experiments for critiques & suggestions w/o being laughed at, ridiculed or lectured.

Plus, it's just fun to build stuff yourself. :D

It is not only to soften the light, but to hide reflections from photog and room. Do you want to see in a channel perfume all the stuff around...? :)
