I've been lurking for a while and got inspired by the thread. So I decided to take a shot at it and was pretty happy with the outcome. Comments welcome.

Okay, so here's the first shot (well, the first shot after changing the WB to Tungsten) using my lightbox:

For a first shot, I'm pretty happy, as I've never tried anything like this before.

That said, I'm open to suggestions. I sense a bit of a red tint to the shot. Anyone else?

Are you using a cardboard box for construction? If so the redish tint maybe from the inside of the box. I was getting the same effect until I used white foamcore board with waxpaper "windows". I have since moved on again and have a new one under construction using white translucent perspex. No windows. This means I can also use above light if needed.

I'm using foamcore, but the windows are white tissue paper (hey, it was handy). I'm going to change the windows and go with something a bit sturdier and, who knows? Maybe it'll help with the tint, too...

Well I have 2 different versions. I started with this, made completely out of leftover matting supplies (and some tissue paper free from work):

IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif'

I'm using the double halogen work lights from HD that come on a stand (that you can remove them from). That setup worked quite well, but then work started to need bigger shots, so I built this:
IMAGE NOT FOUND
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif'

I screwed the lights into the shelf above the light box. I'm using translum from B&H (external link) as both the background, and the diffuser. When you buy a roll, you get way more than enough for a diffuser 4' x 2' and a backdrop 4' x 4' with plenty left over...

Anyway, here are some sample shots:

In my gear reviews, I used that lightbox (the bigger one) to take all the pictures of my gear.

I'd be interested in that, too.

I used tissue paper for mine (hey, it was handy), but I think that it may be part of the cause for the red tint I'm getting...

Hey madferrit and Steve, I used parchment paper (paper used to bake).

Hope this helped :).
