I had 3 or 4 shots from yesterday show up with similar problems, and another couple today.

It's a SanDisk Extreme III 8GB CF card.

Any thoughts?

I feel for you, that sucks. I have the same card (not the same one, you know what I mean) and it has saved all photos fine under heavy use. If the camera works fine with other cards, then I'd get the card replaced by warranty. Nothing is mentally worse than flakey card. If you get another one and it shows same symptoms then it is the camera that is flakey.

Thanks, Pekka. I'm reformatting the card right now, but I don't think that's likely to help. I plan on switching back to my 4GB cards to see if the problem coninues. It it ends up being the camera, I'll haul it back to Canon next week (they just had it for a week replacing the shutter). I'm wonder if there's any connection to that.

Try formatting it in your card reader then format in the camera. Don't know if that will help or not but couldn't hurt to try...

The flawed image looks similar to my recovered images on my sandisk extreme III (1GB). The file names are there but no data (RAW). I can't even format the CF in camera or the card reader. Very frustrating as I can't find the receipt to have it replaced.

I reformatted it in the computer and had another problem with it a few weeks ago. I reformatted it again, and haven't had any more difficulties. I still don't use that card for very important shots, but when I'm out 'plinking,' it's just fine.
