Hi there!

I just got my new lens 70-300 and i want to buy a new UV filter, mainly for protection. Can you guys recomend any brand and model of filter?
As i said, i want the filter mainly for protection, but i don't want to go and buy the first filter i see in stores, lol.
I am tempted to go for Hoya filters, since their reputation is a good one, but i don't know any specific models or types. The size of lense is 58mm.
I would appreciate any help you could give me, since i'm still a newbie in this matters (but i'm learning,.. ;-)a).

Thank you very much!

FWIW, I put UV haze filters on all my lenses, lately Hoya S-HMC UV.

There are supposedly other, much cheaper ones available, but I stuck with the Hoya rep.

i use a 58mm Hoya UV filter with my 70-300IS. I originally bought the filter to use with the 18-55 kit lens, so when i bought the 70-300IS i didn't care to buy another one and continued to use it.
I use a B+W UV filter with my 17-70 and it's supposed to be better, more neutral. I don't really see the difference.
If i hadn't the Hoya 58mm i probably would buy the B+W, but i,m not sure there's much of a difference.
