This was taken at Animal Kingdom last May. It is native to Florida (no leg band), and I believe that it is a juvenile Green Heron. What do you think? Thanks.

EOS 350, 1/320 sec @ f/8, Sigma 70-200 at 200mm.

Hi, Yes it's a Green Heron beware using juvenile as a general term. It doesn't seem to be the case in America ?? but most authorities use the term juvenile to describe the bird from hatching through to it's first moult. Your bird may be older than that and infact is probably in it's second moult or what is called it's first-winter plumage. As a general term immature is much less confusing and encompasses all moults.

Lol that said I've just noticed the May part so you're right and it is infact a juvenile.

Thanks. We supposedly have these in Kansas, but I have yet to see one here.

Thanks. I was lucky that the day was overcast. If the water below him had been reflecting a blue sky, I don't think it would have turned out so well.
