I'm looking for a case for my Alienbees. It'd have to fit 4 B800's and all the cords. I don't mind it being huge, I just need it. I looked at the one on the AB site, but I'm not thrilled with the apparent quality of it.

Anyone have any ideas?

what's your equipment, though? Would it be enough room for the other two lights? I've got bags for my gear...just need to move the lights.

I just recently purchased this case from Amvona - DP-MB02 Pro Multi-Purpose travel case by DynaTran (external link).

I only have three (3) B800's, but it holds them all with room to spare plus two (2) 13' lightstands and extension cords, etc. If you don't need to carry 11" reflectors, it should handle a 4th B800 no problem.

Gatorboy, do you think you could fit three B800's, two 10' lightstands and one 13' lightstand in addition to extension cords, reflectors and two umbrellas in that DynaTran case?

I recommend the following company.

http://www.hardigg.com (external link)

Especially their Storm Cases.

Although it was not for my ABs They make custom cases that are very sturdy and baggage handling friendly and the cost for a custom case was not that much. It was under $300 for a custom case designed to store 10x 320GB Western Digital extermal drives along with most of the cables and power packs.

Although now that you mention it, maybe I need to look into getting a proper case for my ABs for when I travel.

Storm cases look great, guy. Looking at the im2950. Seems to be a good size. No idea how much they are, though. They should be getting in touch with me soon. Thanks for the site.

I was actually looking at the 2975 with just a touch more room for padding and enough for cables without adding too much more weight. The 2950 would work, but there would be less room for cables and other accessories. Based on my preliminaries, with the 2950 you have to put the alien bees length ways (to get 2" padding )and only end up with 5" on the end for cables and padding for accessories, with the 2975 and the AB's flash side down, you get 8". I can get a light mod and/or snoot or two in that area.

the next size up adds too much extra weight without giving me more room (unless I want to make it harder to get to everything).

I really liked the case for the drives while it was in my possession. I had to give it up since I didn't buy it for me and got compensated back. The locks were a bit tricky at first, but after I figured them out, I liked them.

And the following is not necessarily to be taken seriously.

Look another item for the POTN shopping center. :) :)

Although I seem to remember there was a discount for 10 or more cases with the same custom design.

Is there any way I can see prices without waiting for them to get back to me? How much is a 2975? If there were a place I could buy, I'd pick one up.

As long as you are talking about the 7" reflectors -- yes

The only location I know is in Northern Virginia, Oakton, near city of Fairfax. They are the dealer closest to me. I would guess there is one a lot closer to you.

I just found two companies with prices online for $195 for the 2975 with do it your self foam. So add shipping costs. No stores in NY, but then I wasn't looking really hard either.

(I think this is the local dealer I got the custom one from the address sounds right)
